Hmm - I wouldn't necessarily call them a staple, but I think a lot of people make them for Thanksgiving. I do however think both baked beans and green beans are great at Thanksgiving, and both will be on my table next week.

baked beans might be a Texan thing... you never know with those crazy Texans... >.>

Unless Kate, you're the one that says baked beans - then... I'd just have to think you're just a lil more weird than I originally thought ;)

I guess that's the thing about a "feast", you can make whatever you want for it! Personally...I gotta have turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potato casserole (think LaComedia!), and pumpkin pie (but I usually have to wait a few hours for the pie 'cause I'm too stuffed from the meal!)...the rest of the side dishes are extras! At our Thanksgiving meal at the Fishers', we also always have broccoli casserole and layered salad, and whatever Eddie's mom wants to have...OH! And she always makes these cute braided rolls! But I don't ever remember her having baked beans! lol!

As certain things are seasonal..... (how long do you want this post :-) )......baked beans are definitely a summer, cookout kind of food. I've had such fond memories of baked beans in the summer........ ahhhhhh.....but green bean casserole rules at Thanksgiving!!!
